WELCOME!

I ramble incessantly about Doctor Who, books, David Tennant, and Harry Potter. It's a hell of a ride.

OH MY GOD

GREEN DAY
AAAAAH.
SO GOOD.
SO SO GOOD.

Billie Joe mooned us twice, so that was an improvement from when I saw them in Boston. I love him so much.
It was all-around epic and basically Green Day is the best band in the universe.
When I saw MCR in concert, it was awesome because I love MCR. But Green Day... man, they blow all other bands out of the water. They've been doing this for 22 years, and it frikkin' shows.
This is one band that doesn't eff around. They put on a fantastic show and you better love every second of it.
Plus, it helps that their music is complete and utter artwork. For serious.
And, um. Billie Joe is gorgeous.
Heh.

Anyway, that's all! I'm in pain and such. But I'll live. IT WAS WORTH IT. TENFOLD.

Green Day

Heyo!

Imma see Green Day tonight!!!! I'm really excited. 8D

Anyway, I know my last post was long and probably boring. Sorry. XD

I have extreme writer's block. But I thought you might be interested in a Doctor Who story I wrote about the Time War, and the Doctor's regeneration into Nine.
Here is ze linkage: CLICK ME. I dunno if you'll be able to read it without a deviantART account... *shrugs* If you wanna read it and can't, then tell me and I'll post it here.

I got a new Doctor Who book, The Taking of Chelsea 426. It's not bad so far.
ALSO I finished Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins the other day. It's the last Hunger Games book and holy shiz, guys. It made me cry.

YAY that's all for now.
Adieu!

Breaking down Twilight: the book series that defines our generation?

Twilight: one of the most popular books of my generation; inspired hundreds of ripoffs full of Immortals, Fallen Angels, Vampires, Werewolves, Shape-shifters, and the like. Grew into an enormous fanbase full of shrieking twelve-through-twenty-year-old fangirls.

The first time I read Twilight, I was hooked. Like many others in my age group, I fell in love with Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, and the drama that followed.

Now, however, I can hardly read the books without choking on the poop that is dripping off the pages.

...okay, maybe that's a little extreme. But it can't be denied that Stephenie Meyer's writing leaves something to be desired.

I often wonder, when I pick up my copy of the Twilight saga, what it was that drew me in, what has drawn in so many others. I remember what I always gushed about whenever discussing it with friends:

1. The romantic (read: freakishly stalkerish and controlling, possessive, dry, emotionless, really creepy) qualities of Edward Cullen.
2. How I could connect with Bella (oh yes, I could connect with the obsessive need for self-punishment.)
3. Jacob's sexy abs. (Okay, this one hasn't changed. Hot damn.)

When I first read the story, I was sucked into the emotions: falling for Edward along with Bella, shouting obscenities when he left her in New Moon, rooting for Jacob in Eclipse, and nomming pillows in Breaking Dawn.

But now, all I can see are the glaring errors and faults. Bella's a glutton for misery, and her favorite words are beautiful, topaz, and dazzling. Her heart seems to be able to perform superhuman feats, such as stopping randomly, beating so loud it is audible, and tapping out beats so complex they could be the drum track for a new pop song. And let us not forget her ever-present chagrin.

But Stephenie obviously had something. Because Twilight is a pop culture icon, the star of the show and (sadly) what my generation will likely be remembered for. Somewhere in the twisted fantasy of a grown-up woman's dreams about an eternally-seventeen-year-old sparkling sex god, there was a nugget of marketability.

But what is it?

A lot of people try to compare Twilight and Harry Potter, arguing over which is better. *coughHARRYPOTTERcough*

No, I kid (Well, I do think HP is better, but...). It's like trying to compare Titanic and The Blair Witch Project. One is a romantic drama. One is an freaky horror flick. Two completely different genres, two completely different subject matters.

Same goes for Harry Potter and Twilight. HP is focused on action, an epic adventure and truly a quest novel: hearkening back to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; Lord of the Rings; and Star Wars.

Twilight is a romance, not as focused on moving forward a quest or epic; more focused on the growing lust (I refuse to call that relationship love) between two characters.

Elmore Leonard has 10 rules of writing. Let's see how many of these rules Twilight follows or breaks:

1. Never open a book with weather.
Twilight has a lot of focus on weather, almost an overdose, I'd say. Sorry, Stephenie, I'm pretty sure you break this one.

2. Avoid prologues.
Prologues, prequels, ect. All are bad in Leonard's mind. Sadly, I disagree with him... I like prologues. However, Stephenie's "prologue" is more of a glimpse into the future, rather than the past. So I'll give her this one.

3. Never use a verb other than "said" to carry dialogue.
I'm pretty sure Twilight breaks this rule several times over. Let me grab my copy to check... lied, insisted, urged, announced, prompted... yeah, this one's a no.

4. Never use an adverb to modify the verb "said."
Hmm... sheepishly, gruffly, reluctantly... This one's not too bad, but still. However, I don't have too much of an issue with adverbs. So. I guess it's okay.

5. Keep your exclamation points under control.
Are you kidding me? Bella talks in a monotone. Edward is Mr. Gruff. Stephenie, you get a win for this one.

6. Never use the words "suddenly" or "all hell broke loose."
I'm going to say she's broken this rule. I'm pretty sure she's used "suddenly" a few times. So have I, but you know what, I'm trying to change that.

7. Use regional dialect, patois, sparingly.
I think she gets an okay for this, actually. They're all English-speaking white people. (Except Jacob, and she doesn't change his dialect at all.)

8. Avoid detailed descriptions of characters.
Okay, sorry, but this is the biggest FAIL ever in Twilight. Bella spends an entire paragraph describing herself, and Stephenie awkwardly works in descriptions of everyone else; it's very unnecessary.

9. Don't go into great detail describing places and things.
Yeah, another fail. How many times does Bella talk about the trees, the rain, the moss, the rain, the roads, the rain...?

10. Try to leave out the part that readers tend to skip.
Stephenie is very much into descriptions and dragging things out--the action didn't happen in Twilight until page 380! Sorry, no cigar.

So, needless to say, Twilight has its own set of rules; but I can't help but respect Stephenie Meyer and her bizarre ability to get 4 best-selling novels out of this drivel.

But I still blame her for the poorly-spelled hate mail that attacks anyone who says they're not a fan of sparkling vampires and marble chests.

Trock!

aka Time Lord Rock!

aka songs about Doctor Who.
It's my new favorite genre.

Yes. I am a huge nerd.

My favorite songs are all by Chameleon Circuit:
-Blink
-K9's Lament
-Shipwrecked
-Exterminate, Regenerate

They're all really awesome. Shipwrecked is sad, Blink is bouncy and fun, K9's Lament is strangely sad and amusing, and Exterminate Regenerate is just winnish.

Anyway, I started school today! Woop woop. I'm quite pleased with it so far. Physics is awesomeeeee. 8)

That's all for now... remember, kids: COMMENTS ARE YUMMY AND GOOD FOR THE SOUL.

schedules, fanfics, and back pain!

Heyo!
Firstly, I start school on Tuesday. BY RASSILON, WHAT IS THIS SCHOOL YOU SPEAK OF??? What, you mean I can't sleep in till noon and spend the remaining hours of sunlight drawing fan art and then staying up till one in the morning writing and reading fan fiction!? WHAT KIND OF WORLD IS THIS????
Okay, so maybe I've grown used to summer. -__-" But let it be known I have the shortest summer EVER; the schools in Maine get out later than the schools here, and the schools here start earlier than the schools in Maine. So my summer is a lot shorter than it will be next year. *headdesks*
Oh well. After much madness and fiddling, I got my 11th-grade schedule down. Wanna see it? Sure you do!

Zero Hour: Lit & Rhetoric
1A: Creative Writing
2B: Geometry
3A: Govt./Econ.
4B: French 1-2
5A: Drawing I
6B: Physics
7AB: Theater Productions I

I'm pretty pleased with it! Zero Hour and 7th I have every day, and then Tuesdays+Thursdays I have B, and Mondays+Fridays I have A. Wednesdays I have all my classes, but shortened. XD It's complex, innit?

Anyway, I'm a little spastic about Physics. I was supposed to be in Chemistry this year, but it didn't work with my schedule. The two other choices were Anatomy and Physics. But if I took Anatomy, I couldn't take Creative Writing. So, Physics it was. Since I'm taking Geometry at the same time as Physics (you're supposed to have finished Geo before taking Physics), I may have some issues, but I'm willing to give it a go. Plus, every time I look at my schedule I think of The Doctor in the beginning of School Reunion: "Physics. Physicsphysicsphysics... are you getting this all down?"
LOL

Moving on to the next topic of conversation... FAN FICTION. Remember that fanfic I talked about last entry? well, the first 3 chapters are up on deviantART right now! Here is the linkage to my page:
www.future-time-lady.deviantart.com

Yey!

And finally, my back is having a spasm of pain. It hurrrrts.
Also, Gir (from Invader Zim) is my favorite thing ever. I want one. In case you were wondering what to get me for Christmas.

All right, that's all for now! Adieu, my dearlings.

~Audrey
P.S. Now the word "physics" doesn't look like a real word.... >.<

you're the handsome wizard that I'd want an extension from

Howdy, dear readers (who probably forgot about me...)!

Lots of things to talk about... I went to Texas with some friends this last week. The 16-hour car rides would have killed me without the lovely TV in the car, which leads me to my first topic: movies.
I watched most of Alice in Wonderland (2010)... up until when the Hatter is about to be beheaded but then it's actually Cheshire... then I fell asleep. XD
I liked it for the most part, but I thought it moved too fast and didn't make a lot of sense most of the time. Which I guess is part of the point. Whatever.

I also finally saw Will Smith's I Am Legend. I gotta say, I didn't like it nearly as much as I thought I would. I loved Smith's character and the doggie and all, but I felt like it too moved really fast. I also hated the ending. The random woman and son were weird additions to the plot and I felt no emotion towards them. I wouldn't have cared if they died. I didn't like that they survived and ended the movie, because they weren't important in my opinion. It would have been more redeeming, to me, if Will Smith had survived, because goddamn he deserved it!

Anyway, I've recently become obsessed with the Paramore song Misguided Ghosts. It's actually inspired me to write a new Doctor Who fan fiction. The premise is that it is about a year and a half since Donna and Shaun's wedding; for the Doctor, it is after Amy and Rory leave (I'm sure they will at some point). Basically, the Doctor (11) runs into Donna and fixes her (using the Chameleon Arch... it's pretty ingenious.) and they go off and travel. It's pretty awesome so far in my opinion. The fic will be called Misguided Ghosts, after the song. Go listen, it's really amazing.

As for DOYC, if you're interested, I'm having a major roadblock. Taylor Swift and Grey's Anatomy have interfered with my ability to write alien-type epics and now it's basically a hospital drama show in space. >.<

Also, for any Starkid/Harry Potter/Very Potter Musical fans, I saw A Very Potter Sequel! In some ways I think it was better than the original. I liked the storyline so much, and even though there weren't many songs every one was amazing. When I listen to the AVPM soundtrack, I only listen to a few songs. But every song in AVPS is one I listen to.

I must say, I missed Voldie and Quirrell, but Umbridge was the most amazing thing ever. I loved Snape's role, and Lupin was just brilliant. I also adore Brian Rosenthal as Seamus. His hat was so CUTE!

This one was a lot more dramatic and serious at times, which I actually liked. The laughs were okay, but the only time I actually laughed out loud so hard I needed to pause the video was when Snape was talking to Harry and... well, boobies. XD

Anyway, that's about all for now. Go to my deviantART, I posted a couple cool poem thingies about Doctor Who! Woot.

Also, I drew a couple kisses from Doctor Who. The best one was Doctor/Martha from Smith and Jones. I'll try and post 'em on my deviantART at some point.

Well, that's it for real. Goodnight!

Audrey writes a western

Hey guys, remember in my writing meme how I said I'd never write a western?
LOL GUESS WHAT.

"THE COWBOY WHO KISSED A BARMAID, AND GOT IN A SHITLOAD OF TROUBLE"
a western by Audrey Hawkes

MY NAME IS Cowboy Bill. I ride the desert land on my palomino named Giddyup. Her name causes some confusion, because whenever I call out t' her she starts a'running off.

One day I was riding Giddyup into a small town. The locals were all gatherin' in the saloon, and, being a cowboy and all, I joined 'em for a good mug of whiskey and a dollop of local gossip.

The talk of the town was all about a so-called Bad Cowboy Bob, who was riding through towns and robbing banks, shooting sheriffs, and causing all other types a' mischief. I tipped back my hat and said in a deep cowboy voice, "I can take care of him for y'all."

The group of folks went mad with applause, but the barmaid Rosie-Ann looked downright unhappy about it. I moseyed my way over to her and said, "Hey darlin', what's the matter with ya? Why the long face, cowpoke?"

She sighed sadly and stared into the distance. "I just hate t' see such good young men lose their lives to the rascally devil Bad Cowboy Bob." Tears filled her eyes and she said to me, "Y'all will be careful, won't ya?"

I smiled at her and leaned in close. "Fer you darlin', I'll be invincible."
Then I kissed her straight on th' lips.

Just then, Bad Cowboy Bob burst into the saloon. He took one look at me an' Rosie-Ann, and let out a roar of rage. He fired three shots at the saloon ceilin' and yelled, "Get away from my wife, ya damn snakebelly!"

***

There you go, I wrote a western. Shall I continue this tale of adventure and shootouts? Or shall I leave it to rot in a miserable corner of cyberspace?

XD

Writing meme of win.

Writing meme!

What’s the last thing you wrote?
Oh my Jesus. Part of a Draco/Hermione fan fiction I'm co-writing with Sierra... except I fail at writing the next part. Oopsie. The last thing I actually finished was another co-story with Sierra called Getting Lucky. It was cute.

Was it any good?
I think it rocked. It was all adorable and romantic and dorky. XD

What’s the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
Oh god. This book I wrote in kindergarten called The Horrible Days of My Life. XD

Write poetry?
If I can help it, no. But people say I'm good...?

Angsty poetry?
Meep. I admit, I have written some. It's baaaad though.

Favorite genre of writing?
I love love LOVE sci-fi, especially Doctor Who-esque stuff (time travel and space type stuff). I also occasionally try to write YA fiction without fantasy/sci-fi elements, but I've never finished one of those.

Most fun character you ever wrote?
Oh my. So many great people I loved to write! Corky, Liam, and Lucy.
Corky was from my first finished story I wrote at eleven, The Witch's Daughter. He's an elf, and he falls in love with the main character Sarah. He dies but comes back to life.... somehow. I don't even remember. I think Sarah brought him back with her witchy powers and then passed out for two days. Anyway, he was adorable.
Liam is my super sexy Demon from Secrets, my main WIP. He's so fun to write and I just wanna marry him, he's so cuddly. Even with his claws.
Lucy is from Getting Lucky. She's a punk-rock queen and has a sexy boyfriend. What's not to love?

Most annoying character you ever wrote?
Blaaaaaarg. I guess it'd have to be Allegra from Impulses. She's such a two-faced back-stabbing BITCH. -__-

Best plot you’ve ever created?
I love the idea of Secrets.... but my favorite has gotta be Habitat. It's a short story about this futuristic lab where they test on these teenagers. It's so intense and the characters are so lovely and I miss them so much.

Coolest plot twist you’ve ever created?
Liam being a Demon? I guess.

How often do you get writer’s block?
*meekly* I've had it for about 6 months.

How do you fix it?
By CRYING. No, I just let it go away eventually.

Write fan fiction?
OHHHHH yes. My Doctor Who fanfic, Dust Off Your Converse, has an entire season planned. (I haven't even finished episode 2. Shut up.)

Ever written romance or angsty teen drama?
Most of my stories have some romance in them. Actually, one of the stories currently running around in my head is the definition of Angsty Teen Drama. LOL.

Do you type or write by hand?
I write a lot in notebooks. But I prefer the computer for final drafts.

Do you save everything you write?
Pretty much. Sometimes just to take a sentence or two that I like later.

Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
I don't abandon so much as lose steam, but yes, I've come back to Secrets... and will again as soon as steam comes back. XD

What’s your favorite thing that you’ve written?
Meeple. Certain scenes from Secrets, the end of Impulses, certain scenes of my Doctor Who fanfic. XD

What’s everyone else’s favorite thing that you’ve written?
Almost everyone loves DOYC, and Sierra is obsessive about Secrets.

What’s your favorite setting for your characters?
Um. I dunno?

What’s one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
I have tried horror... it was just DUMB. Embarrassingly so. I've tried sci-fi, fantasy, YA, romance... I dunno really. I'd like to try everything at least once.

How many writing projects are you working on right now?
Secrets, DOYC, the Draco/Hermione fic... pretty much. Only they're all at a bit of a standstill. >.>

Do you want to write for a living?
That's my plan.

Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
HOW ABOUT AN ANTHOLOGY. Yes. XD

Have you ever won an award for your writing?
Um. I was published in a well-selling anthology... so kinda? XD

Ever written something in script or play format?
HA. I tried. It was baaaaad.

What are your five favorite words?
seams, darkle (Dean Koontz ftw), damn, vulgar, persnickety.
XD I'm so weird.

What character that you’ve written most resembles yourself?
I'm not sure exactly. Every character I write has a little bit of me in them. I've written myself into my DW fanfic...
I suppose Alicia from Secrets has a lot of similarities to me in how she talks, her sense of humor, ect. But then Rose from Venom (a Twilight ripoff, don't judge!) looked more like me. So I dunno.

Where do you get ideas for your other characters?
Sometimes a scenario will pop into my head with ready-made characters. Other times someone says something and I think, "I need a character who would say that." Usually I get ideas from actors (for looks) and friends and myself and other book peeps (for personality).

Do you ever write based on your dreams?
That's what Secrets is based off of. A Twilight dream, actually. ._. The only good thing it ever brought me.

Do you favor happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
I enjoy happy endings, but Habitat had a majorly sad cliffhanger.

Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
I'm pretty good at figuring out spelling and grammar, actually. I've always been that way.

Does music help you write?
Oh yes. I make "soundtracks" and put them on repeat while writing certain stories.

Quote something you’ve written. The first thing to pop into your mind.
(The only thing in my mind is "I'm just an ordinary girl" by Miley Cyrus...)

"Listen, angel-face, I'm so pissed right now I could literally rip out your eyeballs and shove them up your ass." Gabe paled considerably. "So turn around and walk away, okay? Okay."
-from Secrets, chapter 2.

you can't take the sky from me

So lately I've been on a Firefly kick. In two days I powered through the first and only season. JOSS WHEDON IS A GENIUS!!!!!

Nathan Fillion (Mal, the captain) is so freaking awesome. He's also kinda hot. XD

Anyway, it's a brilliant show.
Also, it's my birthday today.
I'm 16.
HOLY CRAP.
O_O

That's basically it.... I'll post again laterz, after I get presents and such. :D

Doctor Who Season 5 Review Part 2 (SPOILERS)

Episode Seven: Amy's Choice
Rating: 10/10
Okay, this was just AWESOME. Rory was adorable and it was good to see some Amy/Rory love for once. I was on the edge of my seat and when the Dream Lord was the Doctor I was like "HOSHIT! WUT!?"
Totally thought it was the Master. Lulz.

Episode Eight: The Hungry Earth
Rating: 9/10
I really enjoyed this one! Some of the minor characters were annoying, but the story was pretty cool. The alien was a tad odd, not gonna lie.
I don't have a lot to say for this two-parter. It didn't stick with me really.

Episode Nine: Cold Blood
Rating: 9/10
Okay, first of all WHY DID RORY JUST DIE. AGAIN. *whimpers*
But Amy's reaction was GOOD.
Soooo good. But then she FORGOT HIM. I cried.
Better than part one, but to be honest it still didn't stick with me much.

Episode Ten: Vincent and the Doctor
Rating: 12 billion/10
Oh my god.
This was such a great episode. The Doctor was adorably flailing when trying to assist Vincent, Vincent himself was just BRILLIANT, and Amy was just sweet. I love her, and her whole crying for no apparent reason thing was great. The end of this really got to me... I was in tears. It was so touching and eloquently done.

Episode Eleven: The Lodger
Rating: 10/10
Okay, this one was just funny. The Doctor was a total goober, Amy was badass with her TARDIS-flyin' skillz, and the alien was creepy. I felt the "half-TARDIS" bit was never fully explained and left a lot to be desired, but it was a good funny prelude to a seriously intense finale.

Episode Twelve: The Pandorica Opens
Rating: 11/10
OH MY LORD. This episode was full of so much intensity. It brought the entire SEASON together and it was all BAM!Rory BAM!Aliens BAM!Doctor in box BAM!Amy is DEAD!? And then the TARDIS is blowing up and the universe is disappearing and it's DONE. And The Doctor is trapped and I was left staring. Thinking HOW THE HELL?

Episode Thirteen: The Big Bang
Rating: HOLY JESUS!/10
This was SO intense. I love that time travel actually gets USED, in a funny Bill-and-Ted kinda way. I loved River and her awesomeness. And I never thought I'd say that. XD
I loved the fez. I freaked when the Doctor "died." Little Amy is so cuteeeeee! Rory is my hero, Amy is so lucky to have that man. Even if he was plastic.
I adored the wedding. I love that they got married and were happy and SAVED the Doctor and just GAH. Moffatt, I friggin LOVE you.

All-in-all, I think it was a brilliant season, my favorite next to season 4. Amy and Rory are amazing companions and Matt Smith has earned his title as my second-favorite Doctor next to Tennant.
I can't wait for Christmas. 8D

photos and followers

Hai guys!

So, I went on my blog this afternoon, and what do I find?? I have 9 followers!!! Yay! Thanks to all of you guys for makin' me feel special. ^_^

In other news, I took some pretty epic pictures today. Here is one of them:

Pretty much awesome, methinks.
I'm moving in less than a week now. A fact that continues to frighten me.
I feel a bit End-Of-Time-Doctorish at the mo... "I don't wanna go."
But I must.
And just as I think the Doctor knew, I know that despite the fact that I could do so much more, it's time to go.

*regenerates*

...okay, maybe it's not THAT dramatic.
But yeah, things are moving right along over here. I'm excited and sad, but mostly excited.

FREEDOM!

So, guess what?
I. AM. DONE.
With sophomore year!!!
I'm a junior now! Holy crap. That's a scary thought.

In other news, I'm moving in 9 days. Another scary thought.

So yesterday I watched two episodes of Torchwood... I'm still truckin' through season one. O_O I watched Small Worlds and Countrycide. Dear LORD.

Small Worlds was about fairies, only they were actually demonic and killed this sketchy pedophile by choking him with flower petals. Freaky, no?
But Countrycide... oh my GOD. It was about cannibals. Which is why it was spelled "cide" as opposed to "side." It scared me so bad. I was curled up on my couch swearing at the television and clutching a pillow.

I can only watch Torchwood when I'm home alone because my brothers can't watch it due to the swearing and gore and sex and such. But because I watch it alone, I was terrified a cannibal was going to kill me the whole time. XD

Anyway, it's a really good show and even though the next one looks wicked strange (Tosh is sleeping with some blonde chick?! Why is everyone in this show bisexual!?).

Anyway. That's all that's been up with me.
Have a kickass summer!!!!
WOOOOO.

Audrey

Yeah, I was totally expecting Owen and Gwen to get together.

Thursday, June 10, 2010

well whoop dee doodle doo

4 more days, y'all.
Also, I'm moving in 2 weeks.
This is both scary and exciting.

I'm also somewhat freaking about finals... I have my math final tomorrow. Scary.
Anyway, I'm kind of pissed about stuff at the mo, but I can't really discuss it...
I'm really excited because the next 2 Doctor Who episodes are up and I'm gonna watch them this weekend!!!
I still can't decide how I feel about Amy Pond. She's lovely, but I just couldn't stand it if she left Rory for the Doctor. :\ I suppose only time will tell.

I'm sorry I'm so boring, but I can't discuss with you all what is annoying me, so...
JELLY BEANS.

:D

She's so pretty.
I want to dress like her.

holy guacamole, batman

I only have 6 school days left.
O_O
THIS IS SHOCKING TO ME.

So, they have the new Series 5 Doctor Who action figures out now. I want Amyyyyy. And the 11th Doctorrrrr.
I already have 10 and Donna. I need Martha, too. She's mah 3rd faves, after Donna and Amy.
^_^

SO not much else to say at this point; I'm so bored because I have nothing to read anymore... D: I truly need to buy a book, but I'm also saving up for a new laptop, because mine is apparently DOOMED to shit.
Sucks.
Anyway.
Here's a cute man.

*faints*
Um yeah.

I wanna be Donna when I grow up.

insert witty title here, plz.

OMG Harry! From Movie 7! AAAA!

Well, long time no post, eh guys?

I am feeling so lazy and lethargic lately. I don't know what to do with myself, but I don't really want to do anything except lay on the couch and watch Doctor Who for 8 billion hours anyway.

I took down my glow-in-the-dark stars and Doctor Who posters and now I can't fall asleep. I hate packing!!! D:
I finished Animal Farm, the last book I'll be reading in English class! It was very very disturbing, but it was good and an easy read. It's only like 90 pages so I'd recommend it!
Um what else... I watched this fantastic documentary last night called We Are Wizards, it was about the Harry Potter fandom. I adored it. It's ironic how so many Christians think that Harry Potter is encouraging, like, devil worship or something; the main theme of Harry Potter has always been good versus evil, self sacrifice, and love and friendship, a lot of which are very Christian themes. Anyway, I love Harry Potter to death, and Wrock (wizard rock) is amazing. So is Trock (time lord rock). XD NERDS FTW!

Anyway, I only have one and a half weeks of school left!!! I don't know what I'm going to do with myself... I should probably attempt to study for finals this weekend, since they start on Friday, but my brain just doesn't want to. Gaaaaaah.

I leave in just under 3 weeks. O_O
Well, that's all for now, mi compadres.
Adieu,
Audrey

I cannot believe my eyes

How the world's filled with filth and lies
And it's plain to see
Evil inside of me
Is on the rise...

How many kinds of awesome is Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog? I mean really. It is my all-time favorite movie. THEY'RE MAKING A FEATURE-LENGTH SEQUEL OH MY GODS.

HARRY POTTER 7 COMES OUT NOVEMBER 19TH.
And, now for some large-ish news.
I'm, er, moving.
To Arizona.
In June.
Oh snap.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy. I'm fairly spazzing out with excitement to see all my old friends, but then again I'm supremely sad to leave all my new friends here.
Anyways, I have to clean my room today as well as go through my stuff to have a yard sale. Woo.
Adieu,
Auddie

I can't decide whether you should live or die

WHY IS THAT TITLE RELEVANT TO DOCTOR WHO???
If you know... cookies shall be yours!

Anyway. Moving swiftly on, it's time for...
AUD'S SEASON 5 REVIEW!!!

Episode One: The Eleventh Hour
Rating: 10/10
I loved loved LOVED this episode. Matt was amazing, and the monster was totally terrifying. Amy was really excellent both as a child and an adult, I loved her from the minute we met her. She's adorable.

Episode Two: The Beast Below
Rating: 9/10
Aside from being a bit confused (this was paced at uberspeed) I really liked this one. The star whale was SO epic. And the Smilers? Totally freaky!! This was funny and scary. The only thing I didn't like was the Doctor's random "I'm taking you home! Raaaah I be mad" thing. It seemed out of character. But. yeah.

Episode Three: Victory of the Daleks
Rating: 9.5/10
Gotta love the Daleks!!! Especially... SHINY COLORFUL ONES.
Churchill was awesome, too. A bit confused by the point of having that random chick who's boyfriend/husband man died though. But yes, it was awesome. Jammie dodgers!!! XD

Episode Four: Time of the Angels
Rating: 8/10
Meh. MEH. I loved Amy. And Doctor. And the beginning, with the recording was totally scary. But RIVER. She was so weird. I think she ruined it. But everything else about this was good, except I don't like the angels snapping necks. But Angel Bob? So epic. AND THE TARDIS NOISE.

Episode Five: Flesh and Stone
Rating: 6/10
Blah. Angels moving? What? That's dumb! Lame! And all the episode was, was Doctor going "OH!" and River going "Of course!" and Amy going "the hell you talkin' 'bout?" So that was dumb. And Amy TOTALLY was a h0r and it made me not like her. So. That was annyoing and ruinating.

Episode Six: Vampires of Venice
Rating: 10/10
LOVED THIS. Rory is basically the most adorable Spongebob-referencing man on earth. I loved him. And The Doctor was nice to him, which I loved. Amy redeemed herself somewhat, and the monsters were really awesome. I think this was my favorite besides the premiere.

Anyway, that's my spiel. I like this season for the most part so far, and i'm looking forward to Amy's Choice this Saturday!!!

Adios, amigos.

Audrey
P.S.
Ten. I miss him.

Music Madness!

It's time for another giant pile of MUSIC to listen to:

1. The Bird and the Worm by The Used
Why I Like It: it's creepy, guitar-slamming fun, with eerie lyrics and a little bit of classic metal vocal-chord-shredding, but not too much so that it becomes annoying.
SAMPLE LYRICS: "He wears his heart safety-pinned to his backpack..."
Rating: 9/10

2. Boys Boys Boys by Lady Gaga
Why I Like It: come on, it's Gaga! This song is fun. Fun to dance to, fun to sing along to, fun to listen to.
SAMPLE LYRICS: "You taste just like glitter mixed with rock and roll."
Rating: 10/10

3. Mad World (cover) by Gary Jules
Why I Like It: a haunting piano and lyrics that make you want to curl up in a ball of bittersweetness. Gary Jules's cover of this song is gorgeous.
SAMPLE LYRICS: "I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad, the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had..."
Rating: 9.5/10

4. The Hardest Part by Coldplay
Why I Like It: well, besides the fact that this is by my favorite band... this song has so much feeling, and gives me that lovely mushy feeling. It's brilliant.
SAMPLE LYRICS: "And the hardest part was letting go, not taking part... you really broke my heart..."
Rating: 9.5/10

5. Back To Me by The All-American Rejects
Why I Like It: if you're looking for a love song with a peppy boy-band vibe, this is it. The lyrics are so full of that pop-vibe, you can't help but sing along and learn it by heart.
SAMPLE LYRICS: "Can't you see, I beg and plead... and when your eyes light up the sky at night, I know you're gonna find your way back to me..."
Rating: 9/10

That's all for now, folks! Give me suggestions of songs to listen to... and I'll review them! Five songs a post, unless I really like a song and then I'll maybe do up to seven.

In the words of Lady Gaga: "just dance, it's gonna be okay..."
Rock on, everybody.

Love,
Audrey

we are the crowd

GAGA
she is so much of what I listen to these days...

*hums* i like you a lot, lot; think you're really hot, hot.

Yeah. I have a crush. And I keep hearing that on repeat in my head. Good god, I'm such a GIRL sometimes.

(That was Boys Boys Boys by Lady Gaga. Title was from Paparazzi.)

Anyway, I'm so glad it's the weekend I could burst like a balloon. I'm SO tired. But we only have about 4 weeks left!!! And Tuesday after next I'm going on a field trip. See ya, English class. See ya, History of Hell class. See ya, gym of death. See ya, algebra of bipolarity. I'm gone! XD

And that's all for now, childrens.

Love and lemmings,
Audrey

P.S. that's a lemming. :D SO CUTE.

if I fell in love with you

Would you promise to be true
And help me understand
'cause I've been in love before
And I found that love was more
Than just holding hands

If I give my heart to you
I must be sure
From the very start
That you would love me more than her

What do you do when you really just want a certain guy to like you... ah, never mind. It's a pretty song (up there) innit? If I Fell, by The Beatles. Gotta love 'em.

So, my computer has a supervirus that keeps trying to take me to, like, Porno.org and crap. It's quite scary. But my dad let me use his laptop at the mo, so I hope I'll be able to occasionally chat with all my devoted fans (ha) until the home computer is de-virused.

I think Doctor Who may just be the most brilliant show on Earth. Just, just sayin'.
I got a shiny new poster of Matt Smith (eleventh Doctor)!!! It came with my magazine. ^_^ I'm such a nerd, I know.

Here's a picture, then it's off to read A Tale Of Two BangBangBang.

Yay shiny. (That's not what my poster looks like... I wish, though.)
Love and lemmings and stabbing of Dickens,

in which I talk about music, the Master, and... the Master...

HAI GUYS!
Imma talk about music, because I'm just that cool.

Okay, there are a couple of songs that are really freaking awesome. Well, more than a couple, but I have a few I really am obsessed with lately.

1. 3rd Planet by Modest Mouse.
WHY I LOVE IT: The lyrics are amazing, and the melodies are gorgeous. Plus, his voice... is lovely.

2. Yes by Coldplay
WHY I LOVE IT: His voice. It's beautiful.

3. The Greatest Story Never Told by Murray Gold
WHY I LOVE IT: Despite the fact that it have no lyrics (minus some chanting), this song is beautiful. It has some of the most amazing melodies I've ever heard in my entire life. Plus... Doctor Who, yo.

SO! Now I'D like to know: what are 3 of YOUR favorite songs, and why do you love them so much??

Anyway, in other news, I printed out a picture of the Master to hang on me wall, above my Doctor Who shelf. Because, um yeah, I have an addiction to that man. Heh.
Well, anyway... I also printed out that cheesy B-movie-esque picture from The Stolen Earth/Journey's End... y'know, with all the companions and such. It's lovely.

I really love the Master.
Also, I'm a creeper. Wanna know how? Well, friends. I'll tell you. So I made this Facebook profile for the Doctor (name's John Smith, hee hee) a while ago. Every once in a while I go on and update me status, talk to one of my fellow Doc Who friends, and the like. So, recently, I got the brilliant idea to make the Master one too!!! So I did. (HIS name is Harold Saxon. Woo!) And so I had him add the Doctor, and then my friend Rose. She was SO confused when he started spamming her... and even more when the Doctor started telling him to GTFO, essentially.

So yeah, I had about 3 browsers open with all the accounts open... it was fuuuuun.
YES, AUDREY IS INDEED A SPAZ WITH NO LIFE. GLAD YOU NOTICED.

TTFN,
Auddiebear

in which I bleed and read books about demigods.

Today, I finished the fourth Percy Jackson and the Olympians book (The Battle of the Labyrinth) and holy cow, it's amazing.

I have this habit, you see, of coming into books by seeing the movie. Horrible, I know, but what can I say?
For example, when I was about 5 my dad tried reading me the first Harry Potter book. Being 5, I said "noooo" because at five I liked The Boxcar Children. By the time I was 7, the first movie had come out. I went to see it, and... well, how could you not love it??

So, I went home and picked up the first book, and the rest is history. By the time the second movie came out, I'd read the first four books and was thoroughly addicted. Now some people might say I'm not a TRUE book fan if I saw the movie first, but I beg to differ. I think that if the first movie, one of the only ones that stayed true to the book I might add, inspired me to read the books and fall in love with the characters because of how they were written (NOT because they were hot or something because, come on, I was seven) then that's a GOOD thing.

Anyway, Percy Jackson was the same way. My 12-year-old brother started reading them last year, and tried to get me to read The Lightning Thief. I got all the way to right after they got out of the Lotus Casino, and then got bored and started re-reading a Doctor Who book instead. But then the movie came out. And I was PISSED, because they changed everything!!! And the only attractive character (Luke) was killed, which I was fairly certain didn't happen in the books. So I picked up the Lightning Thief and read it. Then I grabbed Logan, shook him by the shoulders, and demanded book two. He informed me he only owned books one, four, and five. I nearly exploded. So I had to wait for our next library visit to gobble up books 2 and 3.

Now I've finally finished book 4, and with only one book left to go, I can hardly believe I'm nearly at the end. I feel like I'm reading Harry Potter 7 all over again; excited, but sad.

As a complete opposite, I got into Doctor Who via the books. My darling bestie, Rose, loved Doctor Who. I'd never heard of it, so she loaned me one of the novels. I believe it was Peacemaker (one starring Ten and Martha). I loved it at once. I read Forever Autumn and had started another one before I even saw my first episode (which, for the curious, was The Runaway Bride. I freaking love Donna. I did from the moment I saw that). Now, Doctor Who is practically my life.

SPEAKING OF, I'm rewatching The End of Time tonight hopefully. I'm really excited, because I loved that episode. It was sad, but it was also brilliant. I love the Master. And the Doctor.

Anyway. I cut my finger on a broken cup. It hurts.

This has been a super long post!!!! So... bye!

~Auddie

in which I have an EDITOR!?

so, hey. you know how i'm writing a book? it's called secrets, and i squee about it from time to time...

well, my dear friend emily goodnow hooked me up with this writer guy who will be critiquing my book/editing it/apparently really enjoying it, as he said in his email!!!

here's a bit of what he said:

"This is a really good story! I’m absolutely amazed at the level and skill of the manuscript. After merely reading the prologue, it was abundantly clear you have all the talent needed to succeed as a writer. You know how to tell a story. "

so i'm basically peeing myself over how excited i am. i mean, this gives me a REASON to actually finish it now! i have an EDITOR!

anyway, i'm super duper happy.
that's all for now...

Not gonna lie, I usually don't get why girls are into the whole "two guys kissing" thing... but this made me understand. Dayum. LOVE.

in which Audrey talks about life, Doctor Who, and such

...briefly, of course.

life or something like it

life as of late, in case all you were curious...

it has included Doctor Who (as usual), Percy Jackson (love), and feeling ill-ish (orange juice for the win).

SO! Just watched the next episode of DW: S5. The Beast Below was really good; not AS good as the premier, in my opinion, but pretty damn awesome. The alien was wicked cool and Amy is still brilliant. The Doctor was a little spazzy, but that's okay.

Well, that's enough rambling from me, eh? Adieu, my friends.

~Aud

in which Audrey obsesses about children's movies

such as:
PONYO! Oh my goodness, it was the cutest movie I've ever seen! I absolutely adore it. If you haven't seen it, go watch it now. It's amazing.

In other news, I have another follower!!! HI EMMA!!!! *waves crazily* The number five makes me feel special. But hey, if we can get TWO MORE, we'll have my favorite number, which is 7. And then, 6 more and it'll be my other favorite number, which is 13. SO: tell your friends about this truly amazing and fascinating blog!!! It will make me happy. And if you follow me... I'll most likely follow you back, cuz all my followers are cool kids. Yo.

Do you like the new musica? I love it. Flogging Molly for the win.
Anyway, I'm on break now!!! Such joy! I'm also watching the next episode of Doctor Who tonight, hopefully. I am so excitedddddd. It makes me wanna fall over with joy.

And that's all for now. Adios, lovelies.

Monday, April 12, 2010

in which Audrey stabs Charles Dickens

not really, of course.

but oh my god, a tale of two cities is making me want to poke my own face in. why why why must we read this!!!!??? i'd much rather just read percy jackson. now THOSE discussions i could get really into. *nods*

speaking of, the third book is SO good so far. i'm halfway through it at the mo. joy!

in other news i'm having a sleepover on thursday!!! we're gonna watch back-to-back twilight and new moon (since i haven't seen new moon) and mock them to our heart's content. you know, the funny thing is when i first read twilight i really enjoyed it... now i reread it and can't imagine why i was so infatuated with edward stalkerpants cullen or why i felt sympathy or even friendliness towards bella eff-my-life swan. the only character i still love (and the only one who made breaking dawn slightly uncrap) is jacob check-out-my-bazillion-ab-muscles black.

anyway... in other news, friday night i'm going to watch The Beast Below, episode 2 of season 5. I am sooooooo excited right now. Matt Smith is kinda brilliant. although i must let it be known NO ONE will replace david tennant for me. i love him beyond all reason and he will always be my doctor. but just like chris eccleston and david tennant, matt already seems like the doctor to me. and amy is just amazing. in time she may become my favorite companion next to donna. because NO ONE beats donna.

here is a picture of donna:

seriously, there's just something about those two that is just amazing. the best best best team to rule the universe.

welp, adios my friends.
love and lemmings,
Aud

Shiny New Doctor is Shiny

Oh my lord, Matt Smith was so brilliant!!! I love him already. He's amazing.

And Amy Pond is one of the coolest companions ever! She's right up there with Donna, far surpassing Rose as far as badassery and just as clever as Martha. I love love love her.

Basically, it was brilliant. I got to watch it here: http://www.drwhovids.blogspot.com/

And it saved my soul. Oh my Gods.

Anyway, I'm reading the second Percy Jackson & The Olympians book now, it's so awesome!! I'm also finishing Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, which is hysterical. And for school we've started A Tale of Two Cities. Did you know the first sentence in the book is a paragraph long??? Oy vey. Anyway, a lot of reading coming up...

Ooh, did I mention the TARDIS? It's gorgeous, I think I like its new interior better than the old one. It's very cool.

To quote the dearly beloved Tenth Doctor....
"Allons-y!"
And just for fun...

in which Audrey attempts to be eloquent

well hey there, readers! how are you today? ah, never mind. no one answers that when i ask it anyway. you may notice i am not using caps today. that is because i am feeling quite lazy.

it is so close to spring break i can nearly taste it. for the past week i have not had to wear my big jacket. this is extremely good news in my humble opinion, for you see, this means it is spring.

i hate it when you can't express brilliant plans because they are a surprise for someone. it's really really frustrating. (i'd like you to imagine that the second "really" is in caps. thank you.)

soooooo! HA HA capslock key is for winners.
i really don't know what i am talking about.

is it bad that i'm already bored with my new blog design? i'm thinking polka-dots. i also need a new, springy-er playlist.

I NEED TO SAY SOMETHING INTERESTING, HUH?

how about a haiku?

this one is entitled, "the last of the time lords" :

the lonely angel,
but he has a heart to spare;
the oncoming storm.

this one is entitled, "the boy who defeated a dark wizard with a stick, a sword, and a badass cloak":

green eyes are glinting
as his lightning scar burns hot
and the dark lord dies.

i enjoy haikus. they make me laugh.

this one is entitled, "audrey needs a life":

i talk to posters
and don't make a lot of sense.
this blog post is done.

let's get down to business, to defeat the Huns

did they send me daughters when I asked for sons?

GOOD LORD, I LOVE DISNEY.

Um, anyway, moving on.

Actually, no wait. I gotta talk about Disney more.

I love Disney movies, okay. With a fiery passion. The Lion King, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, A Little Mermaid, Aladdin... it's all so freaking brilliant. And it makes me happy. Because it = love.

In other news, Logan celebrated his b-day today even though it's really on Tuesday. He's 12 now! And we got him a Mac... the clamshell one. It's purdy. I wish my laptop was fixed. And blue. XD
I also got him The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded, as well as a flash drive. WOOT!

I also love the Matrix. It's such a badass movie.

EPIC WIN:

So anyway, I'm in a good mood today, which is surprising since I got about 6 hours of sleep last night... but two cups of coffee and I'm all good!

So that's all for now!

xoxo,
Auddie

look at me, I've got a case of body language

it doesn't get any better than Queen.

I got a new Doctor Who book today. It's called Shining Darkness. I'm really excited:

I'm quite pleased with it after only about 3 pages. You know, it's really nice when the writers of these books have such good knowledge as to the characters of the Doctor and Donna. I love it.

SPEAKING OF.... spring break is soon, so I'll be able to work on my story soon. Promise!!!

Anymoo, I dunno what else to say, now...

Some drama in my life, but it's stupid, as is all drama, so let's not go into it, eh?

In other news... WELCOME, NEW FOLLOWERS!!! *waves frantically* Ze Awesome Nerdettes are totally awesome so check them out. And ALIIIIINA! *tackles* 8D

Anyway, I feel super special with 4 followers now (even if one of them is my mom... >.>) so I think I should start talking about more worldly topics (other than, you know, Doctor Who) sooooo I guess I'll start with... oh, never mind. I don't like to discuss politics. Um... no, religion's not my cup of tea.... OOH! MUSIC!

Okay, Queen's BOSS, people. BOSS. So, some songs you GOTTA hear:
1. Bohemian Rhapsody (of course)
2. Body Language
3. Don't Stop Me Now
4. Seven Seas of Rhye

I love them so much. Good lord.

Anyway pals, it's been fun. Gonna watch Torchwood tonight! I'm pumped!!!! (and back to the Whoniverse we go, eh?)
